Congress continues to fund highway bill at 2009 level
The highway bill has gotten another short-term extension. The U.S. Senate approved a measure on Oct. 29 continuing federal government funding at fiscal 2009 levels until mid-December. The House and Senate are divided over whether to proceed with multi-year legislation to reauthorize the highway program or choose a shorter-term measure to delay the more comprehensive legislation. This marks the second continuation of federal government funding at last year’s levels, a move made necessary because Congress has still been unable to complete its appropriations work from fiscal 2009.

Web Exclusive: Comparing hydraulic breakers

Usually what contractors are most interested to know is how hard a breaker hits – or, more scientifically, how much impact energy it can produce. More

Tertiary crusher
Amcast now offers Rocky, a tertiary crusher featuring a cost-effective impact system that reduces wear and improves the shape index of the finished products, according to the company. Material input size measures 4 mm to 35 mm. Quarry rock or cone fines that are wasted or not used can be crushed with this machine. Slower RPM yields a bigger
product size (filler); higher RPM yields a smaller product (grit). With its double impactor rotor design, the Rocky eliminates the need to adjust the aprons and allows for a longer life of the apron liners. The Rocky is able to take misshapen sand produced from cones and crush them again into a more uniform shape and size.
