Student inventors reflect on victory at FIRST Robotics Competition

Deep inside Bucks County, Pennsylvania, behind the walls of Palisades High School, lurks Triple Threat, a 5-foot, 120lb mechanical menace. Once activated, it will scan the surrounding area with its cyclopean eye, the built-in camera. When it spots the target, its gun turret will move into position. Then, pivoted in the most efficient angle, its metallic cannon will bombard the target with as many as ten balls in a row. Afterward, it will graze the terrain for more ammunition before returning to discharge another volley. That, more or less, was how Triple Threat propelled its creators -- three scores of students -- to stardom.   Read more >>
