Dr. Robb Clarke
He is an associate professor at the Michigan State University School of Packaging. He has degrees in packaging, marketing, engineering management, and was a Willett Scholar at the University of Oxford in Engineering Science. His research area is RFID for manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and handling, and retail applications. He established the MSU Auto-ID Test Laboratory in 1999. He originated a course on RFID applications in packaging. Prior to teaching, Clarke had a 17-year industrial career.

Cliff Patterson
He is the commercial sales manager for ASURYS, part of International Paper. Its roots are in IP’s Smart Packaging business, which was started in 1999 to address the RFID needs of packaging customers. ASURYS now offers complete supply chain solutions for customers in several different verticals, such as retail, consumer goods, industrial manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. The name change from Smart Packaging to ASURYS was to help communicate a focus broader than just packaging, while illustrating IP’s commitment to being a long-term participant in the RFID space.

Lee Shillito
He is the president and ceo of Bristol, Tenn.-based Triad Packaging. He grew Triad from a three-employee independent corrugated converting plant with no orders to one with more than 140 employees and 250 regular customers. He has been in the corrugated business for more than 35 years, and has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal for his expertise in the packaging industry.

Col. Alan Will
Col. Alan B. Will of the U.S. Marine Corps is responsible for developing the logistics common operating picture for the forces at Camp Lejeune. RFID tagging and satellite-based communications are part of that effort. The main objective is to provide a near real-time common operating picture of logistics to all units in a theater of operation. For his efforts he was recognized by Material Handling Management magazine as one of its Innovation Award winners in 2003 for his “WMS in a box” concept — an RF system in a deployable container that communicates with the Marines’ STRATIS WMS.

Barbara Osyk
She is an associate professor of management at the The University of Akron. She teaches in the areas of supply chain management, operations management, service operations management, and quantitative business analysis. Osyk is actively involved in a number of organizations, including WERC (Warehousing Education Research Council) and ISM (Institute of Supply Management). She serves on the Board of the NEOhio WERCouncil.

Bindiganavale Vijayaraman
He is the professor of management & information systems at The University of Akron. He teaches Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), e-business, and MIS courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His research interests include: software/Internet piracy, disaster recovery planning, topics related to emerging technologies such as e-business/enterprise systems/RFID, impact of IT in global organizations, and curriculum issues in IS. Vijay has published more than 25 technical articles and co-authored a textbook titled “Problem Solving with Microsoft Excel for Windows 95.”
