Background on C2006 benchmark ******************************************************** The CADALYST Systems Benchmark 2006 (C2006) is designed to test and compare systems running AutoCAD. The test compares the current test times with a set of base times and computes an index number. This number represents a ratio of the current test systems performance to the base system's performance; higher numbers are better. For instance, an index score of 3.5, means the test system is 3.5 times faster then the base system for the functions tested. All test data is appended to a file on disk named C2006_DATA.DTA. You can print this file out for a hard copy of the test results. C2006 starts with a dialog box that prompts (and saves) information concerning the current test. We strongly suggest you answer the questions completely. This information may prove very handy when you review the test results at a later date. Remember, as with all benchmark tests, the C2006 is merely a guide for measuring system performance. Getting Started. ******************************************************** ******************************************************** 1) Copy all the test files to a test directory, such as c2006_test. 2). If necessary, uncompress the files. You'll need approx. 40MB of disk space for all test files. ------------------------------------------------------- 3) Important: If you have an OpenGL-based graphics card, turn on hardware acceleration and select the wopengl8.hdi driver (from the Current 3D Graphics Display option, located on the System tab of the Options dialog box). Also, if available, configure your graphics card for AutoCAD and turn off the Vertical Synch option. Start AutoCAD from the test directory you copied all the files to, C2006_test in our example above. This guarantees that AutoCAD can find all the necessary files for the test. ------------------------------------------------------- 4) Use the Appload command to load c2006_go.lsp. 5) Fill in the dialog box prompts per your test configuration. If the configuration is unchanged during subsequent tests you can press to accept the defaults. 6) The current test data, including the total index score, is displayed on the graphics screen (and saved to file) at the end of the test. To run the test again: Quit and restart AutoCAD (to flush all memory) and repeat the instructions from step 4 above. How does your system compare? ******************************************************** For your reference: The Poly 2050A workstation, mentioned above, earned a Total Index Score of 145. ******************************************************** Test file information. ******************************************************** Data Files: C2006_CNFG.DTA Holds test configuration information. C2006_3STD.DTA Contains the base numbers for calculating the index scores. Test files: C2006_GO.LSP Loads and initializes the test parameters, prompts for and saves current test information. C2006_DCL.DCL Dialog box. C2006_TIME.LSP Runs the actual tests. C2006_INDX.SCR Opens C2006_DONE.DWG and loads C2006_INDX.LSP. C2006_INDX.LSP Totals the test times, and calculates the index test scores. TIMES.LSP Working file from BETA testing, it adds the actual test times to the data file. It's called from the last line of C2006_INDX.LSP. Other files required at start of test: GSTEST.ARX ARX routine compliments of Autodesk- automates the rotation of the view about the 3D models. We've provided this file for use only with AutoCAD 2004. All other versions should come with their own GSTEST.ARX file. C2006_DONE.DWG Blank drawing for writing test results to. C2006_LOGO.SLD CADALYST logo image for dialog box. Files created during test: C2006_DATA.DTA All test information is appended to this file. C2006_3D.TMP Temporary file with current 3D test information. TOT_TIME.TMP Used to determine the total test time in seconds. C2006_NEXT.SCR Quits current drawing and starts next drawing. DUSTIN.DWG Test performs Saveas to this file. CONNIE.DXF Test performs Dxfout to this file. 2D Test Drawing files: C2006_1.DWG Architectural drawing. C2006_2.DWG Mechanical drawing. C2006_3.DWG Mapping drawing. C2006_4.DWG Base Architectural drawing. C2006_4A.DWG Xref drawing for C2006_4.DWG. C2006_4B.DWG Xref drawing for C2006_4.DWG. C2006_4C.DWG Xref drawing for C2006_4.DWG.
