Working Differently Contest Official Rules

Participation in the Working Differently Contest ("Contest") constitutes Contestant's full and unconditional agreement to acceptance of these Official Rules.  The Contest is conducted by Cadalyst Magazine on behalf of Hewlett-Packard and Intel ("Sponsors").

(1) Timing:  The Contest begins on September 15, 2008 and ends on February 28, 2009.  Entries must be received no later than 11:59 pm Pacific Time on February 28, 2009.

(2) Eligibility: Contest is open to all individuals age 18 years or older who are residents of the United States.  Employees and the immediate families of Questex Media and/or Hewlett-Packard and/or Intel are not eligible to enter.  All federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited.

(3) Categories & Judging: Each entry must meet the requirements, as specified below in section 4.  Any non-conforming entries will be disqualified. Altered, defaced, mutilated, illegible or incomplete Entry Forms are not eligible and will result in disqualification of entry. After each entry is screened for compliance with the entry requirements, it will be judged by Sponsors. The judges' decisions are final and binding. The entries shall be judged based on the following information: (a) What were your Objectives; (b) What were your Challenges; (c) How do HP Workstations with Intel Quad-Core technology help you overcome your challenges; and (d) What benefits did you/your company realize? Please quantify your answer with examples from any of the following: (e) number of workgroups involved; (f) number of man hours saved off a development cycle, decision process, etc.; (g) number of revisions you reduced; (h) number of people communicated to; (i) estimated cost savings; and (j) HP Workstations with Intel Quad-Core technology. 

(4) How To Enter: Only stories based on a HP Workstations with Intel Quad-Core technology are eligible. By submitting an entry you warrant that you are authorized to submit the information on the Contest form and that the Contest form does not contain information considered by your place of business or any other third party to be confidential. Any entry not complying with the above entry requirements will not be eligible for any prize. Maximum three entires per person. In all cases, entries become the property of Sponsors.  Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. Questex Media accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost or damaged in transit.

(5) Prizes: One (1) winner will be selected. The winner will receive one (1) HP xw6600 Workstation (RB456UT) with a Quad-Core Intel processor 5420 2.5 GHz with 2x6MB L2 cache and 133 MHz front side bus which includes an NVIDIA Quadro FX1700 Graphics card(512MB), 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 250 GB 7200 rpm SATA NCQ hard drive, a 16x DVD=/-RW, 80% efficient power supply 3/3/3 warranty, priced at $2733 (see here), and one (1) HP L2475w 24-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor (KD911A8) priced at $649.00. Because this is a contest of skill, winning is dependent upon the quality of entries received. No alternative prize, cash or other substitution is allowed except by Questex Media in the event of prize unavailability. Prizes are non-assignable/nontransferable.  All federal, state, provincial and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.

(6) Winner Notification: The winner will be notified by e-mail within 20 days of the drawing. The winner will be required to complete, sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability release within 7 days of prize notification.  Taxes, if any, are the responsibility of the winner.  If a selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim prize or fails to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected.

(7) General Terms and Conditions: Questex Media is not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) lost, late, delayed, damaged, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible or misdirected entries; (ii) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties of any kind; (iii) failed, incomplete, partial, garbled or delayed computer transmissions; (iv) any condition caused by events beyond the control of Sponsor that may cause the Contest to be disrupted or corrupted; (v) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of a prize or acceptance, possession or use of a prize or from participation in the Contest; or (vi) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest. Questex Media reserves the right to suspend, cancel or modify the Contest at any time. Each Contestant agrees to release and hold Questex Media and Sponsor harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize; including, without limitation, personal injury, death, property damage and claims based upon intellectual property infringement, public rights, defamation or invasion of privacy. Each Contestant agrees that Questex Media’s only obligation is to submit entries from eligible Contestants to Sponsors according to the procedures and criteria set forth in these Official Rules and award the prize as set forth herein to winners subject to the terms and conditions herein. Contestant agrees that Questex Media’s obligation is fair and adequate consideration for any entry submitted and that Contestant is not entitled to and shall not seek any further compensation. Each Contestant agrees that if his or her entry is selected as a winning entry, as a condition of receiving a prize, Contestant shall sign a license agreement granting Questex Media and Sponsors a royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to use, reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, modify for purposes of publicly performing and publicly displaying and prepare derivative works based upon winner's entry for the purposes of advertising and promoting Sponsors products and for inclusion in and distribution with Sponsors products. Each Contestant further agrees to execute any and all documents necessary to effectuate such license. Each Contestant agrees that by submitting an entry, he or she allows the use of his or her name, likeness and/or voice in publicity or advertising relating to the Contest without compensation.

BY ENTERING THIS CONTEST ENTRANTS CONSENT AND GIVE CADALYST AND SPONSOR THE RIGHT TO REPRODUCE, DISTRIBUTE, LICENSE, SELL, MARKET AND OTHERWISE USE ALL INFORMATION, INCLUDING INFORMATION ON ENTRANTS OBTAINED THROUGH THE REGISTRATION, FOR MARKETING PURPOSES OR ANY OTHER PURPOSES NOT PROHIBITED BY LAW.
